These monthly spotlights are to share with you the amazing power of these beautiful essential oils. However, instead of merely looking up what benefits they have and writing about it, I will be sharing how each oil has personally affected me and my family. I invite you to come on this journey of discovery with me. Let’s dive in!

I struggled with choosing the focus oil for this month because there are so many oils that have positively impacted my family’s life. In the end I decided to choose an essential oil that has helped my family with numerous issues. It also happens to be the first oil I purchased that wasn’t Lavender or Tea Tree. Without further ado I would like to introduce you to this soft, calming and gentle little oily friend: Roman Chamomile.

Chamomile essential oil has been in numerous products I have purchased over the years, mainly skincare. However, it wasn’t until I took my eldest son to see my Kinesiologist that I was able to see the numerous benefits. She recommended I rub diluted Roman Chamomile into my son’s palms morning and night for a few weeks, with the intention that it will help him foster calmness, cope better with upsets and soothe him when he felt overwhelmed. I am pleased to report that it definitely worked for him. I noticed a significant change in his mood and also how he responded to external stimuli. In fact I loved this oil so much that I went out and bought it.

Since the initial introduction of Roman Chamomile into our family, I have now used it for many different reasons. I have added a few drops to a roller ball bottle (along with some other oils), which I apply on my littlest guy’s jawline (externally, not in his mouth). This is really helped with his teething, and helps him to calm down at night-time so he can sleep. I have also add Roman Chamomile to a dropper bottle, and created a blend for him if he has an upset tummy. Being a little guy, he’s digestive system is still getting used to solid food. So I have discovered this really helps him sleep better.

For my eldest I have also made up a room spray in a spritzer bottle, which I spray on and under his pillow every night. This has Roman Chamomile, as well as a few other calming and sleepy oils in it. It really assists him in feeling calm and supported during the night.

As I mentioned before, I have purchased skincare in the past with chamomile essential oil. However, since starting my own essential oil journey, I now add it to my daily face serum. I have sensitive skin and I have found that adding the Roman Chamomile to my Jojoba based serum really helps with calming any redness and sensitivity.
